Game 1 ejection to cost Cavs' Dahntay Jones two-thirds of this season's salary
The Cavs' veteran will lose $6K for the two technicals and ejection
Dahntay Jones won a ring last season with the Cavaliers, and even made a big impact in Game 6 of the Finals against the Warriors.
But despite his veteran presence, he didn't have a spot on Cleveland's roster to start this season, and spent the majority of the season out of the league. The Cavs came calling in April, however, picking him up for the rest of the regular season and the playoffs.
He didn't play during their four-game sweep of the Pacers, but late in Game 1 of the the second-round series against the Raptors, Jones got a little run as the Cavs were running away with things. Right after Jones entered the game, he got loose for a dunk, and celebrated a little too hard, screaming at Raptors rookie Jakob Poeltl, who looked quite confused as to why someone was screaming in his face during a blowout.
After Norman Powell stepped in to say something to Jones, and when all dust had settled, Jones was given two technicals, and ejected. It was an efficient outing for Jones, who accomplished all that in just about a minute of play.
Dahntay Jones stat line: one dunk, two technical fouls and one ejection in about one minute.

Unfortunately, it's going to cost him just about all of the money he got from the Cavs this season. Being signed so late, he's only made $9,000 thus far, and the two techs plus the ejection are going to run him $6,000.
Dahntay Jones made $9,000 from Cavs this season. He just got fined $6,000 for 2 techs and an ejection.

Jones has been in the NBA since 2003, so he's probably okay. Still, it's tough to lose two-thirds of your pay in one minute. Maybe he can get his teammates to help him out like the Grizzlies did during the first round for their coach.
