Hey, remember when Minnesota Timberwolves coach Sam Mitchell said he hated Kobe Bryant? It was only two days ago, so you should. Anyway, given that the two of them chatted in the hallway with reporters around, it should have been obvious that the comment was tongue-in-cheek. Apparently that was lost on some people, so Mitchell set the record straight in a radio interview, delivering some news in the process:

Whoa! Bryant's comments about Andrew Wiggins over the last couple of years indicated he had great respect for the rising star, but this gesture says more than that. It's pretty cool that the 20-year-old will get to count on both Bryant and Kevin Garnett as mentors.

When Bryant dropped 38 points against Minnesota this week, Wiggins called him "the greatest of my generation" and said he "perfected the game of basketball." He also told Bryant that he stole his fadeaway:

It seems like Wiggins is going to be great regardless of who he's working with in the offseason. Still, it's nice to know this is an option, and it's impossible to imagine him turning it down.

As for LaVine, well, he's an insanely athletic wing who can score but needs to become a more complete, cerebral player. He's also referred to Bryant as his childhood idol. Learning from him couldn't possibly hurt.
