NBA Finals: Cavs' Kyrie Irving maintains his foot is 'fine' ahead of Game 7
The Cavs sure better hope so.
Kyrie Irving suffered a foot injury in the Cavaliers' Game 6 win over Golden State to force a Game 7 Sunday. On Saturday, Irving reiterated his brief comments from Thursday night after the game that he is "fine."
"I'm good now," Cleveland's point guard said. "I'll have a day or two in between, so I'm fine."
"I watched the play again, and I kind of made contact with Festus' foot," Irving said of Thursday's injury. "It just was really bothering me toward the end of the game."

That's not actually "I'm fine." That's "it hurts, but I'm going to play through it and hopefully it will not royally ruin my team's chances like my knee injury last year did." It's very similar to what the Warriors are saying about Andre Iguodala's back injury. No one's fine in the playoffs, but everyone plays through it. (Shout out to Steph Curry.)
If Irving's limited, that could tweak this game just enough for the Warriors. If he's 100 percent, that could tweak it just enough for the Cavaliers. If he's 70 percent it may not matter. If he's 70 percent, it could mean everything. The tension in this game is such that every little thing seems to matter. But Irving has a chance to end talk of him being injury prone if he plays through this and excels in Game 7. If he struggles, no one's going to feel bad for him.
That's how it is in the Finals.
