Cavaliers' Richard Jefferson: Re-signs with Cavaliers
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Jefferson re-signed with the Cavaliers on Wednesday, Brian Windhorst of ESPN.com reports.

Originally after winning his first NBA title back in June, the 36-year-old announced he would be retiring from the league after a noteworthy 15-year career. However after giving it more thought, Jefferson retracted his retirement statement and will now play at least two more seasons after inking his name to a new two-year deal on Wednesday night. The veteran forward saw an expanded role during the NBA Finals compared to a quiet season in which he averaged 5.5 points and 1.7 rebounds over 17.9 minutes per game. While he isn't likely to produce much fantasy value next season, he'll still be an intricate part of the Cavaliers' system as one of the veteran leaders.

Richard Jefferson: Reportedly looking to play 2-3 more years
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Jefferson is apparently looking to play 2-to-3 more seasons in the NBA, Chris Mannix of The Vertical reports.

Following the Cavaliers' Game 7 win over the Warriors, Jefferson announced his intent to retire, but he's since softened his stance considerably. The veteran turned in a strong season for the Cavaliers and certainly appeared to have plenty left in the tank, and as a result he figures to garner considerable interest as a free agent this summer. Cleveland will likely attempt to retain his services, but with the cap set to rise, Jefferson may receive offers the Cavs aren't able to match.

Richard Jefferson: Backs away from retirement commitment
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Jefferson told the Dan Patrick Show on Wednesday that a decision on his retirement is "not set in stone."

Shortly after the Cavaliers claimed their first NBA title Monday, Jefferson announced that he'd call it a career, but further conversations with teammate LeBron James and new Lakers head coach and former University of Arizona teammate Luke Walton convinced him to back away from that commitment. The 36-year-old is set to become a free agent on July 1, so he's in no rush to make a quick decision on his playing status. If he does ultimately decide to keep his career going, Jefferson shouldn't have much trouble landing a one-year deal, but he's unlikely to play a major role in any team's rotation after averaging 5.5 points and 1.7 rebounds over 17.9 minutes per game last season.

Cavaliers' Richard Jefferson: Will retire from NBA
by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com

Jefferson announced after the Cavs' 93-89 Game 7 win Sunday over the Warriors in the NBA Finals that he would retire from professional basketball, Dan Devine of Yahoo! Sports reports.

After serving in a bit role for most of the regular season, Jefferson took on increased prominence for the Cavs in the playoffs, and particularly during the NBA Finals when Kevin Love missed a game with a concussion and generally struggled to make an impact when healthy. Jefferson finished the Finals with averages of 5.7 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.3 steals in 24.0 minutes per game, including a series-high nine boards in Game 7. The soon-to-be 36-year-old was set to become a free agent this offseason, but after claiming his first NBA title in 15 NBA seasons, he's decided to go out on top. Though Jefferson largely faded into a reserve role over the final five seasons of his career, he was an alpha dog for much of his first 10 years in the league, averaging at least 18 points per game in five different seasons between 2003-04 and 2008-09. He'll retire with 14,426 career regular-season points across stints with the Nets, Bucks, Spurs, Warriors, Jazz, Mavericks and Cavaliers, good for 157th on the all-time list.

Cavaliers' Richard Jefferson: Coming off the bench for Game 5
by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com

Jefferson will come off the bench for Monday's Game 5 against the Warriors, Monte Poole of CSN Bay Area reports.

After starting for the Cavaliers during an impressive Game 3 win, Jefferson remained in the starting lineup during Game 4 despite Kevin Love being available. The Cavaliers ended up taking a loss in that outing, so they'll move Jefferson back to the bench role he's accustomed to. Jefferson could see a slight decrease in minutes now that he's returned to a bench role, although he should still provide quality court time after seeing plenty of action during the last two games.
