Cavaliers' J.R. Smith: Contributes 14 points in Game 6 win
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Smith went for 14 points (5-11 FG, 4-10 3Pt), four rebounds, three assists, three steals and a block over 40 minutes during Thursday's 115-101 victory over the Warriors in Game 6 of the Finals.

After posting respective success rates from the field of just 30 and 33 percent, respectively, over Games 4 and 5, Smith bounced back with his second-highest scoring total of the series Thursday. One of his three assists was also particularly memorable, as his behind-the-back feed to LeBron James on a fast break led to a thunderous dunk by the four-time MVP. It's tough to predict what Smith can be counted on from game to game, but he's at least seemed to stabilize his efforts after a dreadful first two games of the series. The 12-year veteran now has four straight double-digit scoring efforts, and will be looked to for some key supplementary contributions in Sunday's Game 7.

Cavaliers' J.R. Smith: Will decline player option
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Smith will opt out of his $5.4 million player option for the 2016-17 season and become an unrestricted free agent, Chris Haynes of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.

In regards to staying with Cleveland, Smith is quoted saying, "This is where I want to be. The fans love me; I love them and my teammates." However, with the salary cap expected to increase at the start of the new league year, Smith likely wants the Cavaliers to offer a pay raise after starting 77 games this season while the team traveled to the NBA Finals for the second year straight. Once other offers are on the table for Smith, he very well could take off for a higher salary elsewhere, so once free agency begins, he's another veteran option to look out for in regards to teams needing help in the backcourt.

Cavaliers' J.R. Smith: Scores 20 points, cans five triples in Wednesday's Game 3 win
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Smith provided 20 points (7-13 FG, 5-10 3Pt, 1-2 FT), four rebounds, three steals, and one assist across 38 minutes during the Cavaliers' 120-90 win against the Warriors in Wednesday's Game 3.

After performing a disappearing act in Game's 1 and 2 (eight points combined on three-of-nine from the field), Smith hit the 20-point mark for the fourth time this postseason during Game 3. This was also Smith's sixth showing with five or more three-pointers in these playoffs, and the 30-year-old shooting guard will need to be aggressive again in Game 4 if the Cavaliers hope to even the series.

Cavaliers' J.R. Smith: Held to five points in Game 2 loss
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Smith contributed five points (2-6 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 0-2 FT), two rebounds, two assists and two steals across 33 minutes in Sunday's 110-77 Game 2 loss to the Warriors.

Smith has been practically invisible through the first two games of the series, attempting just nine total shots and hitting only three. While Smith was able to avoid the foul trouble that plagued him in Game 1, the Cavaliers desperately needed him to step up and provide some three-point production after Kevin Love (concussion) exited in the third quarter, and Smith couldn't come through. He's now been held under 10 points in four of the last five postseason contests.

Cavaliers' J.R. Smith: Scores 15 in Friday's win
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Smith scored 15 points (5-9 FG, 5-8 3Pt) in 36 minutes during Friday's Game 6 win over the Raptors.

He didn't do much other than launch shots from beyond the arc, adding just one assist and one steal to his ledger, but Smith knows his role in the Cavaliers' offense. He's now averaging 12.0 points, 3.5 threes, 3.4 boards and 1.1 steals through 14 games this postseason.
