Former Colts general manager and president Bill Polian confirmed to The Buffalo News he will remain as an analyst for ESPN and not take over as the Bills president. CBSSports.com NFL Insider Jason La Canfora was the first to report Wednesday regarding Polian's interest in joining the Bills' front office. ESPN was the first to report Thursday that Polian was staying put.
Polian said he spoke with Bills owner Terry Pegula over the holidays about an advisory role. However, the situation changed with quarterback Kyle Orton's retirement and coach Doug Marrone opting out of his contract.
"It would have required a really long commitment to a new coach, who deserved a long commitment that I wasn't prepared to make," the 72-year-old Polian said. "Because of the circumstances that had changed so dramatically, (it) required a commitment I wasn't prepared to make."
