LOOK: Adrian Peterson taken to locker room after suffering knee injury
The Vikings running back was in some serious pain after taking a hit against Green Bay
The Vikings offense might have just lost its biggest weapon.
Adrian Peterson went down with a leg injury during the third quarter of Minnesota's game against Green Bay. On first-and-10 from the Green Bay 37-yard line, Peterson took a handoff and went for a five-yard gain. After he was tackled, he tried to get up, but wasn't able to put any weight on his right leg.

The Vikings running back was eventually taken to the team's locker room. The injury was serious enough that the Vikings immediately ruled him out for the rest of the game due to an issue with his knee.

Peterson is scheduled to undergo an MRI Monday morning.

When Peterson left U.S. Bank Stadium on Sunday night, he was wearing a giant knee brace and walking with crutches.

It's not clear how Peterson got hurt. On the play where he was injured, he was bear-hugged by Packers linebacker Kyler Fackrell and thrown to the ground. The Vikings running back didn't really take a shot to his knee on the play.
Although Peterson is definitely the scariest offensive weapon that the Vikings have, the running back has basically been shut down by opposing defenses so far in 2016. In Minnesota's Week 1 win over Tennessee, Peterson only carried the ball 19 times for 31 yards.
Before getting injured against the Packers, Peterson had only carried the ball 12 times for 19 yards. With Peterson out for the rest of the game, that likely means Jerick McKinnon will be getting most of the carries in the Vikings offense.
Anyway, if this injury is serious, that would be a huge blow to a Vikings offense that's already had to deal with the season-long loss of quarterback Teddy Bridgewater.
