The Rams drafted Jared Goff with the first-overall pick and already boast one of the best defensive players in the league in Aaron Donald, but their face of the franchise shouldn't be either of those players. That distinction should belong to second-year running back Todd Gurley.

Goff is unproven and Donald, a defensive tackle, plays one of the least glamorous positions. Meanwhile, Gurley is a running back -- fans love explosive running backs, even if they're allegedly a dying breed -- and he might already be the best back in the league. At the very least, he's the best young back in the league, having captured Rookie of the Year honors.

Unfortunately, Los Angelenos don't see it that way. To them, Gurley isn't the face of the franchise.

He's "the guy from the burger commercial."

"Nah, not really. Nobody really knows football players," Gurley said on Tuesday (the day before his birthday) when asked if he was recognized around town, via Fox Sports. "I mean, I have gotten a lot of questions be like, 'Oh, you're the guy from the burger commercial.' I guess that's my name now. The guy from the burger commercial."

Context:

In defense of Los Angelenos, Gurley is new to town, hasn't played in a game in the city, and wears a helmet when he's on the field. And it's not like they were watching the 7-9 St. Louis Rams last year. This is Hollywood we're talking about -- they were too busy making their own mediocre material for the masses. I'm looking at you Black Mass, Spectre, and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2.

They probably also think Goff is Jeff Fisher's son who is touring Rams training camp as a special guest. I mean, it's not that far fetched. Look at the young camper!
