After struggling through their worst performance of the season on Sunday against the Falcons, the Broncos offense should look a little bit better in Week 6 -- and that's mainly because a familiar face is expected to be back under center.

According to NFL.com, Broncos quarterback Trevor Siemian is expected to be the team's starter when Denver travels to San Diego to face the Chargers on Thursday night.

An injured left shoulder kept Siemian from playing in the Broncos' 23-16 loss to the Falcons. With Siemian on the sideline, rookie Paxton Lynch was given the start and the Broncos offense went on to have its worst week of the season.

Lynch wasn't horrible in the game, but he did struggle to get the Broncos offense going. On seven of the their first eight possessions, Denver basically did nothing: They punted six times and Lynch threw an interception.

The Broncos' only touchdown of the day came with just 2:38 left. With Lynch under center, Denver put up just 267 yards of total offense, the team's lowest output of the season. Before Sunday, no team had held the Broncos under 300 yards in 2016.

With Siemian at quarterback, the Broncos shot out to a 3-0 start this season with wins over the Panthers, Colts and Bengals. Siemian was also the starter for Denver's 27-7 Week 4 win over the Buccaneers. However, the quarterback got knocked out of the game in the first half and didn't return.

The advantage of having Siemian sit against Atlanta is that it likely means he's had extra time to study the Chargers. It might sound like a small advantage, but when you're playing on Thursday night in a short week, you take any edge you can get.

Thursday night's game in San Diego will be televised on CBS, the NFL Network and live streamed on Twitter.
