Giants' hiring of McAdoo could make passing game re-emerge
by Dave Richard | Senior Fantasy Writer

The Giants' hiring of Bob McAdoo as offensive coordinator signals a big change in how the offense will operate. ESPN's Dan Graziano had a great breakdown of what to expect from the new scheme in New York.

McAdoo is expected to run a West Coast offense with zone-read principles. It means fewer deep passes and a more controlled, methodical approach but it also means letting your key receivers make plays after the quarterback goes through his reads quickly. That should pop open the door for Victor Cruz to be a factor again, make Rueben Randle a decent regular in the offense and potentially make Jerrel Jernigan a key contributor (this is assuming Hakeem Nicks isn't back with the team). All of that, in turn, would help prop up Eli Manning's stats.

It's something to watch this offseason as pretty much every Giants player will wind up being a sleeper in drafts this summer.

Giants owner wonders why Jerrel Jernigan didn't get shot sooner
by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com

Giants owner John Mara on Monday appeared to take a shot at offensive coordinator Kevin Gilbride, saying "I'm not sure why it took us three years to figure out Jerrel Jernigan can play," reports the New York Daily News.

With Victor Cruz sidelined most of the final three games, Jernigan took over in the slot and shined, catching 19 passes for 237 yards and scoring three touchdowns. Jernigan should return in a prominent role in 2014, as Hakeem Nicks is expected to leave via free agency.

Jerrel Jernigan scores twice in victory
by Nando Di Fino | Senior Fantasy Writer

Giants wide receiver Jerrel Jernigan was the shining star for the Giants on an otherwise flat afternoon, catching six passes for 90 yards and a touchdown and rushing twice for 57 yards -- and another touchdown -- in a 20-6 victory over Washington.

Jernigan finishes the season with three touchdowns in his final two games. And he had a total of 227 receiving yards over his last three. His yardage alone in this Week 17 victory -- 147 total yards -- was more than five times his career total heading into this season.

Jernigan finishes the season with 386 yards and a touchdown.

Giants wideouts a Week 17 crapshoot
by Nando Di Fino | Senior Fantasy Writer

Giants wide receivers Hakeem Nicks and Jerrel Jernigan both have what is essentially an equal chance to shine against a Washington defense that sits right around league average for Fantasy points allowed to opposing wideouts this season.

Over the past three games, Washington has allowed two total touchdowns to opposing wideouts, and they've been relatively stingy in terms of giving up yards (with the exception of Week 16, when both Dez Bryant and Terrance Williams went over 70 yards -- driven mainly by a late, long pass to Williams).

The problem with the Giants is there's no indication who will step up as the No. 1 wideout. Jernigan has been very good the last two games, with 13 receptions on 20 targets for 137 yards and two touchdowns. And Nicks has been on the other end of the performance spectrum, with five receptions on 12 targets for 57 total yards. But Nicks could be playing his last game with the Giants, and is on the cusp of the first zero-touchdown season in his career. There could be some extra motivation to get him in the end zone and finish on a high note.

Jernigan is on a roll lately, and Nicks has motivation. But neither has been overwhelmingly great. With the defense not being especially good or bad, matchup-wise, it would be best to consider both of these wideouts as WR3s for Week 17.

Jerrel Jernigan has career day in win over Detroit
by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com

Giants wide receiver Jerrel Jernigan got off to a fast start as he found the end zone for the first time in his career during Sunday's game against the Lions in Week 16.

Jernigan came down with catches for 18 and then 12 yards in the opening drive, which led to a field goal. He later caught a 20-yard touchdown pass from Eli Manning late in the second quarter for his first career touchdown. He finished the game with a career-high six catches for 80 yards and a touchdown in a 23-20 victory. He was targeted 12 times.

The Giants end the season at home against the Redskins.
