Justin Pugh bulks up
by Larry Hartstein |

Giants right tackle Justin Pugh has bulked up to 315 pounds, reports The Star-Ledger. "I put on about 10 pounds," Pugh told the paper. "I feel very good. I'm stronger than ever and now we're going to start running -- get that going. Continue to get better and continue to work hard."

The 6-4 Pugh played his rookie season at a little over 300 pounds. Pugh said he did not add the weight for a potential move to guard.

Giants keeping Justin Pugh at right tackle
by Michael Hurcomb |

Giants rookie offensive lineman Justin Pugh was projected by some to be a better offensive guard than tackle. Well, after his first eight games in the NFL, Giants offensive line coach Pat Flaherty said he's given no thought to moving Pugh from right tackle.

"Right now, he's the right tackle," Flaherty said, per The Star-Ledger. "At least from my standpoint, there's no thought at another position."

Flaherty said Pugh has been able to maintain his quickness at the point of attack, even though he's bulked up to 310 pounds.

"I think he's getting better at right tackle, his pass protection is better," Flaherty said. "Is he there yet? No. He gets tricked by some of these veteran defensive ends but once he gets better with his techniques they're not going to be able to trick him anymore. I don't flinch at all on him playing another position."

Giants try another combination on offensive line
by Larry Hartstein |

With center David Baas (knee) and tackle David Diehl (thumb) still sidelined, the Giants continue to tinker with their offensive line. On Monday they trotted out Kevin Boothe at center in place of Jim Cordle, reports

James Brewer moved to left guard, while rookie Justin Pugh remained at right tackle, the report said. Right guard Chris Snee and left tackle Will Beatty stayed put.

Coach Tom Coughlin said nothing is set in stone. "We’ll try different combinations," he said. "Nothing wrong with that, I hope."
