Browns T Joe Thomas says Manziel is ready to be NFL starter
by Ruben Palacios | Staff Writer

Despite a below-average rookie season and a number of off-field issues, Browns tackle Joe Thomas believes troubled quarterback Johnny Manziel is ready to be a starter in the league, per NFL.com.

"He's really proved to a lot of people that this is important to him and he's ready to be an NFL starting quarterback,'' the offensive tackle said Friday, via the Northeast Ohio Media Group. "Playing well in the scrimmage tonight and looking like an NFL quarterback is another good step in the direction that he wants to go. He's just earning that trust of his teammates that he's going to need to do if he wants to be that starter. He impressed a lot of people out here tonight.''

Manziel played well during the Browns' scrimmage Friday, completing 9 of 11 passes for 93 yards and two touchdowns.

Browns pick Cam Erving learned offensive line by watching Joe Thomas
by Shawn Krest | CBSSports.com

Browns first-round pick Cam Erving began his college career on the defensive line, but when Florida State asked him to switch to the offensive line, Erving had to watch tape to learn the new position.

The NFL player he chose to model proper offensive line play was his new teammate in the NFL, Browns tackle Joe Thomas

"Man, he’s just a consistent player," Erving said, per ClevelandBrowns.com. "He’s just one of those guys where you watch his sets and you try and see what he does – his stance, his steps, his technique, how he uses his hands. It was a great example to look at. Joe Thomas is going to be a Hall of Famer one day."

Browns T, captain Joe Thomas says Manziel needs to earn back trust
by Ted Leshinski | Staff Writer

Cleveland Browns offensive tackle and team captain Joe Thomas said in an interview with ESPN Cleveland that quarterback Johnny Manziel will need to earn back some trust with the team, per NFL.com.

Manziel is reportedly still in rehab but was recently spotted golfing with his father at a course in Shreveport, Louisiana.

"Obviously there's some uncertainty with Johnny right now and that's why we brought in Josh [McCown]," Thomas said. "He's a guy that if he's asked to carry the flag this year, he's going to do a great job. There's a chance we draft somebody or there's a chance Johnny comes back and he's a new person and he's rededicated to football."
