  • Flyers' Steve Mason: Prevails in shootout for third straight win

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(3/28/17) Mason stopped 24 of 26 shots in Tuesday's 3-2 shootout victory over the Flyers.

He went unbeaten on three shootout attempts, locking down his third consecutive win. All three have been impressive -- the Wild, Penguins and Senators are all formidable opponents. Of course, runs like this have been the exception for Mason rather than the rule, so he's made it's hard to trust his hot streaks. That's not good news for a guy who'll be looking for a new contract this offseason.

Flyers' Steve Mason: Pitted against Sens on Tuesday

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(3/28/17) Mason will defend the cage at home against the Senators on Tuesday, the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Arguably the most enigmatic goaltender in the league, Mason is fresh off huge road wins over the Wild and Penguins, respectively. Coach Dave Hakstol will ride the hot hand with the Flyers currently ranked seventh in the Metropolitan Division with 78 points, albeit only six away from a playoff spot. Ottawa is relatively dangerous in road scoring, averaging 2.69 goals per contest for an 11th-place ranking, so compare Mason with any available alternatives on Tuesday's 11-game slate.

Flyers' Steve Mason: Beats Penguins again Sunday

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(3/26/17) Mason allowed two goals on 27 shots in a 6-2 victory against the Penguins on Sunday.

This is the second time in 10 days that Mason and the Flyers were able to knock off the defending champions. Mason turned aside 48 of 50 shots in the two games, helping improve his recent numbers to a .918 save percentage and 2.32 GAA over his last 11 games.

Flyers' Steve Mason: Draws starting nod Sunday in Pittsburgh

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(3/26/17) Mason will guard the crease for Sunday's game in Pittsburgh, Sam Carchidi of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Mason has been markedly inconsistent this season and has alternated wins and losses in his last six starts. During that span, he allowed four goals twice, but also posted a shutout and a one-goal victory. It's anyone's guess which Mason will show up Sunday against the high-powered Penguins, who are averaging 3.23 goals per game in March.

Flyers' Steve Mason: Stands tall in road win over Wild

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(3/24/17) Mason saved 24 of 25 shots during Thursday's win over Minnesota.

This was a solid win for Mason and the Flyers, but unfortunately for both, the impressive showings have been few and far between this season. For the campaign, Mason sports an underwhelming 22-21-7 record with a .906 save percentage and 2.73 GAA. He's an unrestricted free agent following the year, so his landing spot will have a significant impact on his fantasy value for 2017-18. He's currently difficult to trust considering his disappointing numbers.
