  • Sharks' Dainius Zubrus: Will sit out Game 2

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(6/1/16) Zubrus will come out of the lineup in exchange for the healthy Matthew Nieto, Kevin Kurz of CSN Bay Area reports.

Zubrus had a decent Game 1 outing in which he logged six hits and two PIM in 9:45 of ice time, but with the Sharks trying to go speed for speed with the Penguins, the veteran just doesn't have the same pep in his step. After struggling to find a home following the end of his days in New Jersey, the winger is could be looking at his last chance a securing a Stanley Cup.

Sharks' Dainius Zubrus: Veteran notches two points in Game 2 win

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(5/17/16) Zubrus scored an empty-net goal, adding an assist and a plus-2 rating during Tuesday's 4-0 victory against the Blues in Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals.

Zubrus unexpectedly churned out two points, which marks the first time the 37-year-old has reached the scoresheet during San Jose's playoff run. The veteran has been a victim of healthy scratches and fourth-line duty, appearing in just 5 of the 14 games to date, but he made the most of his opportunity Tuesday -- just don't expect it to be a regularity.

Sharks' Dainius Zubrus: Starting in Saturday's Game 5

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(5/7/16) Zubrus will draw into the lineup Saturday, facing the Predators in Game 5, Kevin Kurz of CSN Bay Area reports.

Zubrus hasn't played since April 9, a regular-season game. He'll reportedly replace Tommy Wingels on Saturday but is destined for a fourth-line role. Given the general lack of ice time handed to forwards in the bottom-six group, we can't see Zubrus being a factor in playoff pools. In fact, he had just seven points in 50 games this season.

Sharks' Dainius Zubrus: May have lost roster spot

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(4/12/16) Zubrus may be a healthy scratch to start the postseason, based on practice lines, reports Kevin Kurz of CSN Bay Area.

With the return of Matt Nieto, Zubrus may get bumped down the totem pole and start the postseason in the press box. He's been a worthwhile investment for the team, considering the circumstances under which they acquired him, but he hasn't exactly been a fantasy dynamo. Through 50 games he had three goals and four assists, along with just 33 shots, 15 hits and 15 blocked shots. You can probably do better than him for your roster even if he's in the lineup.

Sharks' Dainius Zubrus: Grabs second marker of season

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(2/3/16) Zubrus scored his second goal of the season in Tuesday's loss to the Ducks.

It's his second goal and third point in 19 games this season. He shouldn't be counted on to produce. He's relegated to a fourth-line role and is seeing just a shade over 12 minutes per game.

NEWARK, N.J. (AP) The biggest reason the New Jersey Devils are hanging around in the Eastern Conference postseason race is the play of goalie Cory Schneider.

March 11, 2015: Devils' Zubrus Snaps 50-Game Goal Drought
Zubrus snapped a 50-game goal drought when he found the net for one of the Devils' two scores in Tuesday's loss to the Wild. The 36-year-old Zubrus has never provided much in the way of offensive upside, but he's sunk to a new low in 2014-15. He's managed only eight points in 59 games, which has led to a nearly three-minute dip in ice time from a season earlier.
