  • Lightning's Ryan Callahan: Scores, dishes out helper in win

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(5/3/16) Callahan scored a power-play tally and assisted on the game-winning goal during Tuesday's Game 3 5-4 overtime victory against the islanders.

The winger had been kept off the scoresheet in the previous two games of the series, but showed up in a big way in Game 3, also recording six hits in his 18:50 on the ice. It was a down year for Callahan, as he only managed 28 points after putting up 54 the year before. Still, if he starts scoring on a regular basis he'll provide help to postseason fantasy rosters.

Lightning's Ryan Callahan: Helper leads team to second round

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(4/21/16) Callahan assisted on the game-winning goal and added two hits in Thursday's 1-0 win over the Red Wings in the Game 5 clincher.

Callahan had not reached the scoresheet in the series to date, but Thursday's assist mattered the most as it sent Tampa Bay to the second round. The 31-year-old isn't one to notch points on a regular basis -- he had just 28 in the regular season -- but in order for the Lightning to go deep, Callahan and company will have to pose as threats consistently.

Lightning's Ryan Callahan: Maintenance day Thursday, fine for Game 2

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(4/15/16) Callahan missed practice Thursday for "body maintenance," but will play in Game 2 against the Red Wings on Friday.

Per the report, Callahan is likely to sit out for practices between playoff games, which seems like a great idea considering that he's dealt with a myriad of injuries over the course of his nine-year career. Even though the Bolts took Game 1, it will be up to guys like Callahan to provide an offensive spark to complement primary scorers like Nikita Kucherov, who surged in the series opener with a three-point night. You'd have to rewind the tape all the way to Feb. 28 to find the last time Callahan lit the lamp -- that just won't fly in the postseason; not for the Lightning or fantasy owners alike.

Lightning's Ryan Callahan: Ready for Game 1

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(4/13/16) Callahan (lower body) will return to the lineup for Wednesday's Game 1 matchup with the Red Wings, Joe Smith of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Despite missing the team's final three regular-season contests, the lower-body injury appears to be a non-issue at this point. He will slot in on the third line, looking to build off his eight points in 25 games last season. However, it seems unlikely the Lightning will reach the Stanley Cup Finals for a second consecutive season.

Lightning's Ryan Callahan: On track to play Wednesday

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(4/11/16) Following Monday's practice, Joe Smith of the Tampa Bay Times relays that Callahan (lower body) appears good to go in advance of Wednesday's playoff opener against the Red Wings.

Callahan, who missed the Lightning's last three regular season games with a lower body injury, practiced Monday and said he's feeling good, which sets the stage for him to return to action Wednesday. Callahan finished up the 2015-16 season with a modest total of 10 goals and 28 points in 73 games for Tampa Bay.

March 24, 2015: Callahan's Goal Sends Lightning To Victory
Callahan scored the game-winning goal late in the third period and also had an assist in Tuesday's 4-3 win over the Panthers.Cally delivered physical play, too, dishing out five hits against Tampa's cross-state rivals. He's now cleared the 50-point mark for the first time since 2011-12 with the Rangers, and he could quite reasonably surpass that season's career-high 54 points before all's said and done.
