Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola responds to Messi reunion rumors
The Spanish coach knows whether a move is possible or not
Manchester City's new manager Pep Guardiola arrived in the English city on Sunday to start his career as the Citizens' new coach, and he quickly touched on whether Lionel Messi could play for Manchester City one day.
Guardiola last coached Bayern Munich but was the manager of Barcelona from 2008-12 with Messi on the team, winning three league titles, two Champions League crowns and much more.
Per Marca, Guardiola said, "Signing Messi is impossible. He will finish his career at Barcelona."
Buzz kill. But seriously, it was always going to be a long shot. City is one of the few teams in the world that has the economic resources to even contemplate a transfer for Messi, which would likely cost over $200 million, but Messi has been Barcelona for life and it was always going to be near impossible for him to move away in his prime.
He and the fans know that.

Props to Pep for being honest though. There is no doubt saying something like "we'll see" would have falsely raised hopes of City (and Real Madrid) fans. All fans like a honest, up front coach on their team, and that's what Guardiola has shown on day one.
