What to Know

The Davidson Wildcats are 5-1 against the Massachusetts Minutemen since January of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success Tuesday. Davidson and UMass will face off in an Atlantic 10 battle at 7 p.m. ET at Belk Arena. The Wildcats will be strutting in after a win while the Minutemen will be stumbling in from a loss.

Davidson came out on top in a nail-biter against the Rhode Island Rams this past Saturday, sneaking past 72-68. Davidson's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but guard Foster Loyer led the charge as he had 19 points and five assists.

Speaking of close games: UMass entered their game against the Duquesne Dukes this past Saturday without any home losses -- but there's a first time for everything. UMass fell just short of Duquesne by a score of 78-74. Four players on UMass scored in the double digits: guard C.J. Kelly (19), guard Rich Kelly (16), guard Noah Fernandes (14), and forward Michael Steadman (13). Steadman hadn't helped his team much against the Richmond Spiders last Wednesday, so this was a nice turnaround for him.

Davidson is the favorite in this one, with an expected 12.5-point margin of victory. Those burned by picking them against the spread this past Saturday might want to keep in mind that the team has not yet dropped back-to-back games against the spread this season.

Davidson's victory brought them up to 12-2 while the Minutemen's defeat pulled them down to 7-7. A pair of stats to keep an eye on: The Wildcats rank 10th in college basketball when it comes to field goal percentage, with 50% on the season. Less enviably, UMass has allowed their opponents to shoot 48.40% from the floor on average, which is the 352nd highest shooting percentage allowed in college basketball. So the cards are definitely stacked against UMass.
