The Rutgers Scarlet Knights will look to defend their home court Monday against the Lafayette Leopards at 7 p.m. ET. RU is out to keep their three-game home win streak alive.

It was close but no cigar for the Scarlet Knights as they fell 73-70 to the DePaul Blue Demons this past Thursday. The contest was as close as the oddsmakers predicted, but RU had been the slight favorite coming in. Guard Ron Harper Jr. (19 points) was the top scorer for RU. That makes it four consecutive games in which Ron Harper Jr. has had at least ten rebounds.

Meanwhile, a win for Lafayette just wasn't in the stars this past Friday as the squad never even grasped a temporary lead. It's hard to picture a worse loss than the 88-55 bruising that they suffered against the Duke Blue Devils. One thing holding Lafayette back was the mediocre play of guard Tyrone Perry, who did not have his best game: he played for 33 minutes but put up just nine points.

This next game looks promising for the Scarlet Knights, who are favored by a full 19.5 points. They may be expected to win, but bettors beware: they are 0-3-1 against the spread when favored.

The losses put RU at 3-2 and the Leopards at 0-4. A couple stats to keep an eye on: RU is stumbling into the matchup with the 43rd fewest takeaways in college basketball, having accrued only 11.5 on average. Lafayette has experienced some struggles of their own as they are 349th worst in college basketball in takeaways, with only 9.8 on average. It's possible one of these Achilles' heels will wind up tripping the losing team up.
