Florida vs. Florida State updates: Live NCAA Football game scores, results for Saturday
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Florida vs. Florida State football game
The Florida State Seminoles will hit the road for the second straight week as they head to Florida Field at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium at noon ET on Saturday. They will be strutting in after a win while the Florida Gators will be stumbling in from a loss.
The Seminoles decided to play defense against itself last week, but the team still came out ahead despite their 105 penalty yards. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Boston College Eagles, sneaking past 26-23. The team accrued 19 points in the first half and coasted on those for the victory. FSU's QB Jordan Travis did his thing and passed for three TDs and 251 yards on 34 attempts.
Speaking of close games: Florida fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against the Missouri Tigers last week but wound up with a less-than-desirable result, falling 24-23. Florida didn't live up to their potential and found themselves falling short of the 9-point advantage oddsmakers thought they had coming into the game. QB Emory Jones put forth a good effort for the losing side as he accumulated 261 passing yards in addition to picking up 45 yards on the ground and snatching one receiving TD.
Special teams collected 11 points for Florida. K Chris Howard delivered a perfect 3-for-3 game.
FSU's win brought them up to 5-6 while the Gators' defeat pulled them down to an identical 5-6. Two stats to keep an eye on: The Seminoles are stumbling into the contest with the 196th most thrown interceptions in the nation, having thrown ten on the season. Florida has experienced some struggles of their own as they are 244th worst in the nation in thrown interceptions, having thrown 15 on the season. It's possible one of these Achilles' heels will wind up tripping the losing team up.
