In his second season in Triple-A, Tim Cooney improved his stock and his chances for a more significant role with the Cardinals in 2016. The lefty tightened up his control on his way to a 2.74 ERA at Memphis, and in eight starts with the Cardinals, he posted a 3.16 ERA. As a flyball pitcher, Cooney will be helped by pitching home games at Busch Stadium, but first he will have to wait for an opportunity to join the rotation, mostly likely through another starter's injury. He is worth a late, speculative pick in deeper NL-only leagues.
