Bayern Munich clinch 10th straight title with win over rivals Borussia Dortmund in Der Klassiker
Dortmund mistakes gifted Bayern an early lead and they never looked back

Bayern Munich clinched their tenth straight Bundesliga title with a 3-1 victory over Borussia Dortmund in Der Klassiker Saturday. Mistakes from Dortmund allowed Serge Gnabry and Robert Lewandowski to put things out of reach in the first half as they finished off moves started by Dortmund errors. Dortmund did make things interesting in the second half by scoring a penalty in the 52nd minute, but it wasn't enough to stop Bayern in their title pursuit. Jamal Musiala put things out of sight in the 84th minute to secure the title.
Dortmund only have themselves to blame for the goals in the first half as Bayen got their first thanks to a Joshua Kimmich corner kick. Leon Goretzka's header found the way to Serge Gnabry for quite a finish from outside the box.
Bayern's second goal was due to self-inflicted mistakes too. Following a turnover, Bayern turned their counter press into an immediate Thomas Muller to Robert Lewandowski connection to double the lead.
Dortmund came out stronger in the second half. Marco Reus won a penalty from a tackle by Joshua Kimmich and Emre Can took it confidently to score his fourth penalty of the year, staying perfect from the spot. But Dortmund couldn't take advantage of their chances as Erling Haaland was unable to find the back of the net despite running circles around Bayern defender Dayot Upamecano on the pitch.
Bayern brought on Musiala to get control of things in the 63rd minute and his calmness on the ball helped make the difference when Dortmund were pushing. It shows not only did Bayen win the battle on the pitch but Julian Nagelsmann won the coaching battle off the pitch over Marco Rose as well.
Dortmund had to be better here
Musiala puts it out of sight! 3-1 Bayern!
The youngster has been a bright spot since entering the match and he has likely secured the Bundesliga title for Bayern.
79' Haaland is free but Neuer holds strong
Upamecano is beaten again in a footrace but luckily Bayern's keeper can stop the advance. Nervy moments with only ten minutes remaining in the match.
75' Musiala is free but can only draw a corner
One talented youngster's advance is stopped by another as Jude Bellingham saw what Musiala was trying to do and read his dribble well. Bayern couldn't do much with the corner but they are steadying things.
Neither team wants to take advantage of their chances
Dortmund are winning the xG battle 1.05 to .67 but they've only put two of their five shots on target. Bayern hasn't been much better either placing three of eight shots on target.
61' The game is getting stretched in the second half
Tackles are flying in from everywhere, Dortmund has already scored from the spot and Bayern wants a penalty of their own following a punch from Hitz that landed on Hernandez when he went for a save. Bayern will change things taking out Gnabry for Musiala as they look to steady things.
Upamecano is bailed out by Lucas Hernandez
After losing a footrace to Haaland, it took a good sliding tackle by Hernandez to stop Reus from scoring. Dortmund looks much better to begin the second half and the next goal will be critical in this one.
A look back at the challenge and the penalty
54' So close from Reus!
Was Bayern already celebrating the title at the half? They've come out of the gate flat in the second period and could pay if they don't steady things sooner than later.
Emre Can takes, and puts Dortmund within one goal! 2-1 Bayern
It was a good take by Can who stays perfect from the spot on the season. Something to think about for Bayern now!
Dortmund earns a penalty!
It's Kimmich who caches Marco Reus in the box to lead to the chance. Can Dortmund take their gift?
The teams are back out for the second half!
Dortmund will hope that they can get on the board.
We've reached the half and Bayern leads 2-0
Dortmund will need a rethink if they want to get back into this match. It's not that they've been particularly bad as much as the issue is that they've crumbled in critical moments. Holding Bayern to only four shots in the half is pretty good but when they've scored due to two defensive errors, there's not much that can be done about it. The black and yellow have had a few chances of their own but Haaland has been well contained taking only 20 touches in the first half and no one has stepped up to be a secondary danger.
43' Lewandowski breaks Bayern's streak
It took their third shot of the match for one to not result in a goal. Bayern will be happy to still be getting the ball into dangerous areas though.
A look at Bayern's second
Dortmund are their own worst enemy
Both goals have been caused by self-inflicted errors to allow Bayern to now score two goals from only two shots on target. From leaving Gnabry unmarked to a turnover in a critical error, there may not be much that Rose can do to salvage this. Even when Dortmund tries to hold the ball, the Bayern counter press is too much for them to handle.
34' It didn't take too long and there's Lewandowski! 2-0 Bayern
Following a turnover, Muller turns Zagadou inside out as Lewandowski scores another goal during his impressive season to double Bayern's lead.
Dortmund are saved by Coman's big toe!
Dortmund had the play covered but Wolf played the ball to Gnabry in a moment of madness for Gnabry to slot it into the net. They were saved by a VAR review but Bayern are knocking on the door!
27' Haaland had a good chance but just wide
Brandt played a beautiful through ball but Haaland wasn't able to put it on target. Dortmund won't get many chances like that so they need to take them when they do.
Goretzka enjoyed his header to set up the goal
A lethal finish. Absolutely lethal
19' Gnabry has a full head of steam again and Bayern is cooking!
They just scored their first goal of the match and it feels like a matter of time until Bayern ends up scoring another as their key players are constantly finding space. Could they lock up a tenth Bundesliga title by halftime?
Lofted ball from a corner and there's Serge Gnabry with the opener! 1-0 Bayern
It was a looping corner delivery that pinged around the box before reaching Gnabry. He fired his shot in from outside the box and it wouldn't miss for the early goal.
11' Great ball into the box form Goretzka
But it was just too much for Coman to handle. Bayern are getting the ball into dangerous spaces with regularity now so Dortmund could find themselves behind if they don't get an early goal soon.
5' Alphonso Davies is locked in
While his final ball let him down, Davies was able to get three consecutive recoveries in the attacking third to help Bayern create their first chance of the match. It's still a Dortmund heavy start but Bayern are settling into things in front of their home fans.
Dortmund are pushing forward well and pressing
It's an energetic start for the black and yellow but how long can they sustain things with a short bench due to injuries. Bayern are more patient in their buildup but ready to pounce on mistakes if any are made.
Less than five minutes until kickoff
Der Klassiker is almost underway!
It's almost time
Manchester City are leading the race for Erling Haaland but could he stay in Germany?
