When the Heisman Trophy finalists were announced on Monday night, LSU star running back Leonard Fournette was not one of them.

Only three players will head to New York City for the presentation on Saturday, and the early-season favorite for the award did not end up on the final list.

Fournette posted a very simple message on Twitter noting his disappointment in not being named a finalist.

Fournette bolted out of the gate to an incredible start to the season, but his production tailed off towards the end of the season as LSU struggled down the stretch. His 1,741 yards and 18 touchdowns were not enough to earn him a trip to New York, despite leading the country in rushing yards per game and playing two fewer games than Alabama star Derrick Henry.
