Derrick Brooks: Big 12 'courting' Florida State, Seminoles will listen

By Chip Patterson | College Football Writer
The mixed messages from Florida State regarding a possible move to the Big 12 continued on Wednesday, with Derrick Brooks commenting that it is the Big 12 courting Florida State. Not the other way around.

Brooks made the comments during an appearance on the Tim Brando Show. In addition to being arguably one of greatest linebackers in Florida State history, Brooks also recently served on the school's Board of Trustees.

"This is no new discussion for Florida State in terms of leaving the ACC, whether it be SEC, Big 12 - it's nothing new," Brooks began. "As I finished up - I actually finished up my trusteeship recently - but I'm still very involved. If the Big 12 is coming after us, no doubt we're going to listen.

"Hopefully by the Big 12 courting, or flirting, with us - it gives the ACC that much more credibility."

Brando asked Brooks to clarify his statements, that the Big 12 was reaching out to Florida State.

"From my understanding, it is the Big 12, you know, wanting to talk to us," Brooks said. "Again that's from my understanding; that appears to be the case."

As for a response from Florida State athletic director Randy Spetman?
