Mets' Neil Walker: Moving to 60-day disabled list

Walker (back) will be placed on the 60-day disabled list Tuesday to make room for Gavin Cecchini on the Mets' 40-man roster, Marc Carig of Newsday reports.

Walker will be sidelined for three months following surgery to repair his back. Moving him to the 60-day DL provides the Mets a spot on the 40-man for Cecchini. Walker will be an unrestricted free agent, though it's possible New York gives him a qualifying offer and attempts to sign him for more than a year.
