Capitals' Karl Alzner: Still day-to-day

Alzner (upper body) remains day-to-day ahead of Game 2 against the Penguins on Saturday, Tarik El-Bashir of CSN Mid-Atlantic reports. "He's getting close," Capitals coach Barry Trotz said.

This effectively rules out the shutdown defenseman for the next contest. Alzner's played through a litany of injuries throughout his career, but he's also proven human as a lineup absentee since Game 2 of the conference quarterfinals.
