Ryder Cup 2016 odds, prop bets: United States a big favorite throughout
Both teams have been completed, and the Americans remain a the team to beat, per the oddsmakers
The teams are set, and the United States remains the big favorite at Hazeltine for the 2016 Ryder Cup over the Europeans. There are about a million ways to bet on this year's event, and I have picked out some of the most interesting ones thanks to Bovada. Let's start with the overall event.
2016 Ryder Cup odds
- United States win (-190)
- Europe win (+150)
It's pretty insane that the team that has won six of the last seven of these events is a +150 underdog to win in 2016. I would probably bet on the U.S., but that's a strong number for a squad with Rory McIlroy, Sergio Garcia and Justin Rose.
Margin of victory props
- U.S. to win 14.5 - 13.5 (10-1)
- U.S. to win 15 - 13 (9-1)
- U.S. to win 19.5 - 8.5 (66-1)
- U.S. to win 20.5 - 7.5 (100-1)
- Tie 14 -14 (10-1)
- Europe to win 14.5 - 13.5 (10-1)
- Europe to win 15 - 13 (11-1)
- Europe to win 18.5 - 9.5 (100-1)
- Europe to win 20 - 8 (200-1)
- Europe to win 21.5 - 6.5 (400-1)
You can bet on every iteration, but these were the most intriguing to me. The U.S. at 19.5 to 8.5 is fascinating at that 66-1 number. The U.S. really could rout this European team that has six rookies.
Margin of victory
- U.S. by 1-3 points (11-4)
- U.S. by 4-6 points (7-2)
- U.S. by 7+ points (4-1)
- Europe by 1-3 points (7-2)
- Europe by 4-6 points (11-1)
- Europe by 7+ points (14-1)
- Tie (11-1)
I'm in love with U.S. by seven or more points at 4-1. Love! Also Europe by 4-6 points is nice at 11-1. So is the tie.
Team to win first full point
- U.S. (-130)
- Europe (even)
This is completely dependent on who goes out first on Thursday, but I presume Davis Love III will choose to play four ball first which is what the U.S. is better at so I would go U.S. at -130.
Race to 10 points
- USA (5-8)
- Europe (3-2)
- Tie (20-1)
I love the tie at 20-1!
Matches to go to the 18th hole
- Under 11.5 (even)
- Over 11.5 (-130)
Over seems easy considering there are 28 matches, right? I'd take the under.
Will there be a hole in one?
- Yes (4-1)
- No (2-13)
No. Always no.
