WATCH: Bryson DeChambeau's side-saddle putting change seems to be working well
Bryson DeChambeau debuted his side-saddle putting style on Thursday
Bryson DeChambeau is known for his commitment to the science of golf. He uses one-length irons and no player spends more time studying Trackman numbers or the physics of the golf swing than DeChambeau.
DeChambeau earned his PGA Tour card for this season by way of the Web.com Tour, but he wasn't thrilled with his performance in PGA Tour events to close the season after a red-hot start to his professional career. Between the end of his 2015-16 season and his debut at this week's Franklin Templeton Shootout, DeChambeau decided to give side-saddle putting a try in hopes that it would improve his performance on the greens.
Thursday's first round at the shootout with partner Lexi Thompson was the competitive debut of his side-saddle putting style, and it started off well.

It looks strange, but it seems to be working for DeChambeau, who has never cared about the aesthetics of what he does on the golf course so long as it's efficient and effective.
