As the first of four events that comprise golf's annual FedEx Cup Playoffs, the Barclays does more than just offer valuable FedExCup points, it also offers an $8.25 million prize purse. Hunter Mahan's 2014 victory saw him receive a check for $1.44 million.

3. The Tour Championship by Coca-Cola
Aside from being the last opportunity to secure extremely valuable points for the FedEx Cup Playoffs, the Tour Championship is also an opportunity to win a share of $8.25 million in purse money. In 2014, Billy Horschel followed up a victory at the BMW Championship by winning this event a week later, and thus taking home another check for $1.44 million.

4. The WGC HSBC Champions: $8.5 million
As part of the World Golf Championships -- an annual four-event affair seen as just a step below the majors -- gets kicked off each year in China with HSBC Champions tournament that features an $8.5 million purse. Bubba Watson won the event in 2014, taking home a prize of $1.4 million for his playoff victory over Tim Clark.

By coming out on top of golf's toughest test, the winner of the U.S. Open pockets the largest share of what will be a $9 million dollar total purse this year. Martin Kaymer pocketed $1.62 million for his 2014 victory at Pinehurst.

7. The WGC Cadillac Championships: $9.25 million
Taking place just a few weeks before the Masters, the WGC Cadillac Championships presents a nice opportunity to line your pockets before getting to Augusta National. The event features a $9.25 million purse, with 2015 winner Dustin Johnson netting an eye-popping $1.57 million.

8. The British Open: $9.2 million
While the Claret Jug taken home by the British Open winner is the most revered trophy in golf, the $9.2 million in prize money isn't too shabby either. 2014 Open-winner Rory Mcllroy was awarded a healthy $1.66 million for his win at Royal Liverpool.

While the field of contenders is nearly cut in half for the third event of the FedEx Cup Playoffs, the prize purse is just as big. The BMW Championship features an $8.25 million total prize purse, with 2014 winner Billy Horschel taking home $1.44 million for his win at Cherry Hills Country Club in Colorado.

10. The PGA Championship: $10 million
By recently upping its total purse to $10 million, the PGA Championship became the most lucrative of golf's four majors. Rory McIlroy won it last year and took home a check for $1.8 million.

11. The WGC-Cadillac Match Play Championship: $9.25 million
Formerly known as the Accenture Match Play Championship, the 2015 Cadillac Match Play Championship held at the end of April touts a prize purse of $9.25 million. The winner will take home $1.57 million, up from the $1.53 million taken home by the 2014 winner Jason Day.

12. The Bridgestone Invitational: $9.25 million
The last of the World Golf Championships each year, the Bridgestone Invitational entices golfers with a $9.25 million purse. This was yet another of Rory Mcllroy's triumphs last year, adding an additional $1.53 million to his 2014 earnings.

13. The Players Championship: $10 million
As golf's unofficial fifth major, The Players Championship boasts a prize purse that matches and even exceeds those featured by the PGA's four official majors. A total of $10 million in winnings will be available in 2015, with 2014 winner Martin Kaymer pulling in a respectable $1.8 million.
