Matt Cain named as NL All-Star starter

CBSSports.com Insider Jon Heyman reports that San Francisco's Matt Cain has been chosen by manager Tony La Russa as the All-Star starter for the National League. La Russa's decision comes despite widespread popular support for R.A. Dickey of the Mets to earn the starting nod.
On the season, Cain has a 2.62 ERA in 120.1 innings. He ranks second in the NL in innings and WHIP and fourth in strikeouts. On June 13 of this year, Cain threw the 22nd perfect game in major-league history.
