Video and quote: Skydiving Brian Cashman
Yankees GM Brian Cashman jumped out of a plane (twice!) with the Army Golden Knights on Monday to help raise awareness for the Wounded Warrior Project. As you surely know by now, he broke his right fibula and dislocated his right ankle on the second landing. The New York Post has video of the first jump:
Cashman jumped in tandem with U.S. Army Sgt. 1st Class Noah Watts, who gave the pre-jump orientation:
When Watts, while conducting the orientation, spoke of a man who chickened out on the plane after his girlfriend jumped, Cashman quipped: “How come I never heard about that story about [Red Sox GM] Ben Cherington before?”
Before Red Sox fans start sharpening their knives and pitchforks ... he was just joking. GMs have relationships that are a lot more friendly than most people probably realize. Still, bravo.
