MLB Postseason 2016: Blue Jays-Rangers ALDS Game 2 lineups
Both teams have changed things up, slightly
Thursday afternoon, the Toronto Blue Jays opened the ALDS with a thorough depantsing of the Texas Rangers in Game 1 (TOR 10, TEX 1). Losing Game 1 at home has generally been bad news, historically.
The Blue Jays and Rangers will continue the series with Game 2 at Globe Life Park in Arlington on Friday afternoon. Here's how you can watch and here are the starting lineups:
Toronto Blue Jays
- 2B Devon Travis
- 3B Josh Donaldson
- 1B Edwin Encarnacion
- RF Jose Bautista
- C Russell Martin
- SS Troy Tulowitzki
- DH Michael Saunders
- CF Kevin Pillar
- LF Ezequiel Carrera
LHP J.A. Happ
Texas Rangers
- LF Carlos Gomez
- CF Ian Desmond
- DH Carlos Beltran
- 3B Adrian Beltre
- 2B Rougned Odor
- C Jonathan Lucroy
- 1B Ryan Rua
- SS Elvis Andrus
- RF Nomar Mazara
RHP Yu Darvish
Both clubs have made some lineup changes based mostly on the opposing pitcher's handedness. The Blue Jays faced a lefty (Cole Hamels) in Game 1 and will face a righty in Game 2. Texas raced a righty (Marco Estrada) in Game 1 and will get a southpaw in Game 2.

Toronto swapped Melvin Upton out for Saunders, though Saunders slides in at DH with Bautista moving back into right field. Carrera played right with Upton in left in Game 1 while Bautista served as the DH. The Blue Jays will take a bit of a defensive hit, but the hope is Saunders' offense will make up for it.
The Rangers have replaced Mitch Moreland with Rua at first base, and Shin-Soo Choo with Mazara in right. Both Choo and Mazara are lefties, but manager Jeff Banister apparently prefers the rookie to the veteran with a southpaw on the mound.
