Mets closer Jeurys Familia was arrested Oct. 31 in Fort Lee, New Jersey, on a domestic violence charge. What the charges characterized as a "simple assault" left Familia's wife with a scratch on her chest and a bruise on her right cheek. Recently, Familia pleaded not guilty in municipal court.

Now, via NJ.com, comes the audio of the 911 call that Familia's wife, Bianca Rivas, placed subsequent to Familia's arrest. Rivas' exchange with the 911 dispatcher begins around the 3:30 mark:

As you heard above, Rivas told the 911 operator that her husband was "going crazy" and "drunk" while also verifying that a dispute had taken place.

In addition to possible legal consequences, Familia also potentially faces discipline by MLB under the league's domestic violence, sexual assault and child abuse policy.

To date, commissioner Rob Manfred has suspended three players under that policy. Aroldis Chapman served 30 games, Jose Reyes served 51 games, and Hector Olivera is currently serving an 82-game suspension. Chapman was not arrested following his incident.

Given the brief history of the policy, it seems highly likely that Familia will be facing discipline. Manfred has shown a preference for letting the legal process play out before making a decision on such matters, so the league's decision on Familia probably won't come down for some time.

Familia, 27, led MLB with 51 saves in 2016. He had a 2.55 ERA and struck out 84 batters 77 2/3 innings.
