WATCH: Tulowitzki, Cespedes hit grand slams within a minute of each other
One came in Toronto, the other in Atlanta
From two different countries on Sunday, we were provided a fun baseball coincidence. Blue Jays shortstop Troy Tulowitzki and Mets outfielder Yoenis Cespedes both hit grand slams and they actually happened within one minute of each other.
At roughly 1:19 p.m. ET, Tulowitzki happened in Toronto:
Most Blue Jays reporters were saying that was the loudest the Rogers Centre has been since the famous (notorious?) Jose Bautista bat flip in Game 5 of the ALDS last year.
Also at roughly 1:19 p.m. ET (a tick later than Tulo), Cespedes clubbed a granny of his own:
So, yeah, that's a pretty fun coincidence. To get two grand slams on the same day is something, but these two happened in the same minute for a pair of playoff contenders.
The ball is flying out in Toronto, too. Through just 4 1/2 innings, there have been five home runs, including two from Edwin Encarnacion who now has 39 and also increased his career-high RBI total with 115.
