Rockies' Justin Morneau, Carlos Gonzalez held out of lineup Thursday
by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com

Rockies first baseman Justin Morneau and right fielder Carlos Gonzalez both received a day off Thursday against the Padres. It was the second time Gonzalez was not in the starting lineup and third time Morneau was not in the starting lineup this season.

"I've been wanting to give CarGo one for the last few days," Rockies manager Walt Weiss said, per the Denver Post. "But Dickey (Corey Dickerson) was banged up and we were short-handed. So I thought a day game after a night game was a good spot for it."

Morneau is batting .231 (12 for 52) with one home run, two doubles and three RBI in 14 games, while Gonzalez is batting .179 (10 for 56) with one home run, four doubles and five RBI in 14 games.

The Rockies are considered underdogs (+103) for Thursday's game.
