| Sweeney ready to compete in RF: MLB.com reports newly-acquired outfielder Ryan Sweeney is excited about competing for the vacant job in right field this spring for the Red Sox. "Just having the opportunity to go in there and win the right-field job is good enough for me," said Sweeney, who was acquired in the trade that also brought Andrew Bailey to Boston. "I just want to go in there and have a good spring training, and I think one of the main things is they want somebody to be able to play good defense. And that's something I've always prided myself on is playing good defense, and I'm comfortable in all three outfield positions, but I think mostly I'm mostly comfortable in right, too." | Sweeney has had his injury issues through the years, and he might just be a platoon outfielder at this juncture in his career. The Red Sox don't necessarily need to rely on just one player in right field. They have other options like Darnell McDonald, Ryan Kalish and Mike Aviles. Sweeney will probably also hit lower in the lineup on the days he plays and doesn't have a very high ceiling offensively, so leave him for AL-only Fantasy formats on Draft Day.
