| Mendoza to work out of 'pen: With Will Smith being called up from Triple-A Omaha to join the rotation for the Royals, Luis Mendoza has been moved to the bullpen. Mendoza went 1-2 with a 6.08 ERA in five starts this season. “I’m willing to be in any role they have for me,” Mendoza told the Kansas City Star Wednesday. “I want to help the team in any way I can. It’s not that I’m happy, but it’s what they say they want me to do." (Updated 05/23/2012) |

| Mendoza will serve as the long reliever in Kansas City for the time being after not doing well in the rotation. He had an excellent spring that put him on the map in Fantasy but it looks as though his value will be minimal as long as he is a reliever. While the right-hander could earn some starts down the line, leave Mendoza on waivers in all but the deepest of AL-only formats at this point. (Updated 05/23/2012). |
