| Royals reel in Broxton: The Royals signed RP Jonathan Broxton to a one-year contract worth $4 million on Tuesday, pending a physical. Broxton spent his entire seven-year career with the Dodgers, serving as the team's closer for much of that time. He's not expected to have that role with the Royals, though. "He'll be one of our setup guys with [Greg] Holland and others," GM Dayton Moore said. Broxton went 1-2 with a 5.68 ERA and seven saves this past season. (Updated 11/29/2011) |

| Though the plan is for Broxton to be a setup man, he could still end up closing at some point if the Royals elect to trade Joakim Soria or move him to the starting rotation. In such an event, Broxton would be worth drafting as a No. 2 RP in mixed leagues. Otherwise, he only has value in deeper leagues that use setup men and middle relievers. (Updated 11/29/2011). |
