  • Jones bumped to DL: The Braves made a move after Friday’s loss to the Nationals, putting third baseman Chipper Jones on the 15-day disabled list with a left leg contusion. The move comes after the Braves found themselves in need of a third catcher, as David Ross was forced to leave the game Friday with a right groin strain, so they will call one up to replace Jones.

    Injury Report
Calf - 15-day DL. Out until at least early June
    (Updated - 5/25/12)
    Fantasy Analysis
The move is retroactive to Wednesday, when Jones made a pinch-hitting appearance, a move the Braves and his Fantasy owner’s likely would like to have back, as it is the only time he has been able to appear in the last seven games. If he had not made that appearance, he would be eligible to come off the disabled-list five days earlier, however now he will likely be out until the second week of June. The injury was considered more of a nusciance for Jones than anything else, as he has been unable to explain why the bruising has not gone away. He will now have ample time to rest it. He is worth stashing in deeper mixed leagues, as he remains a productive hitter when healthy.
