Cavs vs. Celtics: Richard Jefferson says LeBron James was sick during Game 3
LeBron had his worst playoff performance in years, scoring just 11 points on 4-13 shooting
The Cleveland Cavaliers rallied in the second half on Tuesday night to take care of business and win Game 4 of the Eastern Conference finals against the Boston Celtics, so their surprising Game 3 loss a few days earlier will soon be forgotten about. We do, however, have an explanation as to why LeBron James, and thus the Cavs, were off during Game 3.
James had one of his worst playoff performances ever in Game 3, as he went just 4 from 13 from the field, scoring 11 points. It was his lowest number of made shots since back in the 2014 Eastern Conference finals against the Pacers, when he went 2 of 10 from the field and scored just 7 points.
According to Richard Jefferson, who was on Fox Sports Ohio after Game 4, the reason for LeBron's tough night in Game 3, is that he was dealing with a "bug" that was making him lethargic.
Jefferson's full comments on the game below:
"I know he won't talk about it, so I'll give my big guy a shout. Deron Williams missed shootaround this morning because he had like a little bug, really lethargic, had no energy. And I think that's what Bron had. And sometimes these little bugs can go around. And he was like, dude when Deron didn't show up to shoot around, it kind of started clicking in his head. Because for him it was like, 'I don't know why I was so lethargic, why I had no energy, I had nothing.' And so, these little things happen. It was no panic. Look, he was lethargic, they hit a bunch of tough shots. If Marcus Smart doesn't go 7-for-10 from three, then we're not even talking about it."
Well that seems like a pretty reasonable explanation to me. And the good thing is now that we know why LeBron was struggling, we won't have to see any inane arguments online about how that game affected his legacy or something.
Wait, hold on a second, getting something from my sources.
Ah, apparently those arguments have already happened.
