Report: 'No chance' Chandler Parsons re-signs with Mavericks
The versatile forward is looking for a new home
For a few days last summer, it looked like the Dallas Mavericks had established a new core. DeAndre Jordan, Chandler Parsons and Wesley Matthews would try to help Dirk Nowitzki chase another championship as his career winds down and then ease the franchise's transition to a post-Nowitzki future. That dream was dashed before it got started because Jordan went back on his verbal agreement and re-signed with the Los Angeles Clippers, and now it looks like Parsons is on his way out, too.
Last week, ESPN's Tim MacMahon reported that the Mavericks had no plans to offer Parsons a maximum contract. Now, the situation appears even more clear:
Source on possibility of Chandler Parsons returning to Dallas: "No chance."

It seems like just yesterday that Parsons was serving as the Mavs' lead recruiter for Jordan. Just two months ago, it looked like he was about to play the same role with Dwight Howard. Hesees himself as a max player, though, and this is his chance to sign the most lucrative contract of his career. Things change quickly when it comes to free agency, and loyalty doesn't always matter -- it's worth remembering that it was seen as a shock at first when the Houston Rockets decided not to match Dallas' offer sheet for Parsons two years ago.
Parsons reportedly has a meeting scheduled with the Portland Trail Blazers, and Damian Lillard will be in attendance. The Los Angeles Lakers and Memphis Grizzlies are also interested, according to ESPN. The Mavs, meanwhile, are reportedly trying to land both Mike Conley and Hassan Whiteside -- if that works, then maybe a split is best for both sides here.
