The Denver Nuggets are an absurdly young team, but one of their seasoned veterans is sticking around. The Denver Nuggets will re-sign sharpshooting swingman Mike Miller on a two-year, $5 million contract, according to The Vertical's Shams Charania.

Miller, 36, signed with the Nuggets a year ago and made 47 appearances last season, playing a career-low 7.9 minutes per game. Despite his small role, he made 36.5 percent of his 3-pointers.

As long as Miller is in the league, he will demand defensive attention on the perimeter. His presence, though, might be just as valuable to this particular franchise as his shooting is. From the Denver Post's Chris Dempsey in April:

"If I have to make him an assistant coach, player-coach, whatever," said Nuggets coach Michael Malone, smiling. "Mike Miller has been tremendous."

...

"I just can't speak enough about his work ethic, his example that he sets every day," Malone said. "Even (Thursday). This was practice No. 118. Even (Thursday), three games to go, Mike Miller is in here, working hard, setting the example. I don't think you can have enough guys like that. The fact that he has two world championships, sixth man of the year, rookie of the year. ... I'd love to have Mike back. I think he's been a tremendous help for me, the staff and all of our players. I hope he's a Nugget for a while."

Miller has been in the league for 16 years, and he's a two-time champion from his days with the Miami Heat. Denver could have used his roster spot on a young guy with upside, but the roster is already loaded with those. The Nuggets will be more than happy to have him back.

Related: Miller talked to CBS Sports' Matt Moore about mentoring young players, the mentality of a shooter and more in a recent Eye on Basketball podcast. Listen to it and you'll understand why Malone raved about a guy who barely played.
