Report: Suspended Draymond Green 'strongly pushing' to attend Game 5
Warriors forward Draymond Green doesn't want to miss the game
Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green is "strongly pushing" to attend Game 5 of the NBA Finals on Monday despite his suspension, according to The Vertical's Shams Charania, who reported that "Green wants to find a route into the arena, and his reps are discussing the logistics of attending with the league and the players' union."
The 2015-16 NBA rule book states (on p. 16) that violating the rule that bars suspended players from being in "any part of the arena or stands where his team is playing" results in an automatic fine of $2,000. Perhaps Green is simply willing to pay that price.
CBS Sports' Ken Berger reported that the league is "working through postgame details," and it will not stop Green from celebrating in the event that the Warriors win the championship without him. That's tricky. Will Green just wait in the parking lot and watch on his phone? Can they make an exception and let him sit in a suite or the locker room? This specific scenario is not exactly normal.
