Kenneth Faried , who has been held out of the Denver Nuggets ' last two games for rest, may not play in the team's season finale Wednesday against the Trail Blazers, Chris Dempsey of The Denver Post reports. "For me, I'm just trying to get my body healed back right for USA Basketball," Faried said of his mindset heading into the final week of the regular season.
Both Faried and coach Mike Malone seem to be on board with the rest plan, as the forward has played through a variety of nagging ailments this season, and there's little to gain by playing him in the final stretch of the campaign with the Nuggets headed for the draft lottery. With Faried out of the lineup the last two games, Malone has experimented with Jusuf Nurkic and Nikola Jokic as his starting frontcourt pairing, and that figures to remain the case Wednesday. Assuming the starting duo along with Darrell Arthur and Joffrey Lauvergne can sufficiently cover all the frontcourt minutes Wednesday, look for Malone to leave Faried on the bench once again.
Kenneth Faried (undisclosed) is not listed as a starter ahead of Sunday's matchup with the Jazz, Denver Nuggets ' announcer Jason Kosmicki reports.
Faried sat out of Friday's game against the Spurs as well for an undisclosed reason, so he very well could remain sidelined again Sunday. No indication has been given on whether or not he'll see the court, although considering the Nuggets have been eliminated from the playoffs, it wouldn't be surprising to see him sit out to avoid further strain on his body this late in the season. Look for Nikola Jokic and Jusuf Nurkic to remain the starters at power forward and center.
Kenneth Faried will not play in Friday's matchup with the Spurs for undisclosed reasons, Denver Nuggets ' announcer Jason Kosmicki reports.
Faried was not on the injury report heading into this contest, so it is surprising that he will not play. There is no word yet on what type of injury he could be dealing with. He missed a significant stretch of games in March as he dealt with a back injury, so that could potentially be acting up again. Expect an update on his status when more information becomes available.
Kenneth Faried tallied 10 points (3-11 FG, 4-6 FT), 12 rebounds, two assists and two steals over 25 minutes in Thursday's 101-95 loss to the Pelicans.
The five-year veteran continued to work his way back from recent back troubles, posting his first double-double since Mar. 14 versus the Heat. Faried has double-digit boards in two of the three contests since returning from a six-game absence due the aforementioned injury woes, and finished March with 13.3 points, 8.8 rebounds, 1.0 assists, 0.6 blocks and 0.5 steals across a modest 23.4 minutes per game.
Faried made his return to the starting lineup following a six-game absence with back soreness. It's not clear if the absence of Jusuf Nurkic (illness) influenced coach Mike Malone's decision to insert Faried back into a prominent role, but at the very least, the power forward looks to be healthy again. However, because Malone regularly tinkers with his frontcourt rotation and spreads the minutes out between a number of big men, Faried may struggle to crank out double-doubles on a consistent basis.
