John Fox fined $30K, Jack Del Rio $25K for Week 2 behavior towards officials
On Sunday morning, we noted that Broncos head coach John Fox and Denver defensive coordinator Jack Del Rio were likely going to get tagged with hefty fines for their sideline behavior towards the referees during Week 2's Monday night game.
The price tag for their behavior was indeed pricey, as CBSSports.com's Mike Freeman confirms that Fox was fined $30,000 for his behavior and Del Rio was hit with $25,000 for his. Adam Schefter of ESPN first reported the news.
Freeman also hears that Bill Belichick, who physically grabbed an official on the field following the Patriots loss to the Ravens on Sunday night, could face up to twice the fine that Fox was hit with.
A reasonable expectation, given what Fox and Del Rio were fined, would have Belichick fined $50,000.
Kyle Shanahan, who chased a pair of referees into the tunnel following the Redskins loss to the Bengals Sunday, should also receive a hefty fine amount for his behavior.
The NFL's warned coaches repeatedly that it doesn't want them berating and bullying the referees, particularly on camera. The league has a chance to send a message about this behavior by nailing Belichick and Shanahan with big fines and it's not unreasonable to think that they will do just that.
