The likelihood of Terrell Suggs being taken off the PUP list and being ready to play in Week 7 after tearing his Achilles only five months ago is pretty far-fetched. Well, Week 7 is here, Suggs has been taken off the PUP list and it sounds like he's ready to play at a high level.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Suggs expects to play Sunday when the Ravens face the Texans. Schefter says Suggs' family and friends are planning to travel to Houston to watch him “stage one of the quickest returns from this type of significant injury that any athlete ever has.”

Crazy, right? Doesn't matter. That's still the plan in Suggs' mind.

We'll get a better sense of whether he can actually accomplish the task on Thursday, the day after he practiced for the first time in 2012.

But eerily, this quick return is what Suggs predicted soon after partially tearing his tendon.

"Absolutely," Suggs said in May when asked if he'd play in 2012. "Middle to end of October. Definitely beginning of November."

According to NFL.com's Albert Breer, though, the team would be "shocked" if Suggs can play on Sunday. Reportedly, Suggs is taking his rehab day by day and the Ravens official who talked to Breer said he has "no idea" when Suggs would be game-ready.

Also, there's this from The Baltimore Sun:

Also, Suggs told reporters that his family was not planning to be in Houston for the game.

But no matter what Suggs wants, it might make more sense to wait a few more weeks. As Will Brinson pointed out Wednesday, “Baltimore's got its bye in Week 8 and the Browns and Raiders immediately after that, so there's certainly some leeway in terms of how the Ravens want to bring Suggs along.”

Maybe easing him back into the game instead of slamming him into an injury-depleted lineup against one of the league's scariest offenses would be the safer play.
