There's been a lot gum-flapping in the days leading up to the Dolphins-Jets rematch, much of it stemming from coach Rex Ryan's comments about Miami running back Reggie Bush needing to apologize for his "What comes around goes around" remarks after New York cornerback Darrelle Revis suffered a serious knee injury in their Week 3 meeting.
Jets safety LaRon Landry also weighed in, telling the media Wednesday that "(Bush) will remember that hit (from the Week 3 game that knocked him out of the second half with a knee injury). … Every time he sees me, he will remember that hit ... if I'm in the box or coming downhill. ... If I get penalized, I'm not going to stop hitting or head-hunting. I'm not going to stop the way I play."
There's more from Landry's teammate, linebacker Aaron Maybin who said of Bush: "We want to knock him out but we're out to do it legally."
Yes, we know, that's a lot of yapping from a defense that's been pretty dreadful this season. Not to worry, though. Dolphins center Mike Pouncey needed just 34 words to put Maybin in his place.
"I don't even want to talk about him," Pouncey said via the South Florida Sun-Sentinel's Omar Kelly. "He's a joke. … He's not even going to play enough plays to touch Reggie."
And don't expect Pouncey to retaliate because, as he put it, "I have to be on punt block to say something to him."
