Ravens release Bernard Pollard

By Evan Hilbert | CBSSports.com

The Baltimore Ravens have released safety Bernard Pollard, as the team continues the destruction of its Super Bowl-winning defense.

The Ravens are now down key defensive starters Ray Lewis, Paul Kruger, Dannell Ellerbe and Pollard. Veteran safety Ed Reed, too, is a free agent.

Pollard finished the season with 98 tackles and earned a reputation as a punishing safety. In his eight years in the league, Pollard has also spent time with the Chiefs and Texans.
