All anyone in and around New York wants to talk about these days is Odell Beckham. The talented wide receiver has drawn a serious diva reputation as of late, thanks to multiple blow ups on the field and on the sideline over the last two years.

Brandon Marshall is urging people to be careful with Beckham, Eli Manning says Beckham brought the issues on himself, Tom Coughlin thinks Beckham is a distraction, Jon Gruden thinks Beckham should be benched and even Beckham said he's not having fun playing football.

It all culminated on Thursday afternoon when Giants coach Ben McAdoo joined Mike Francesca on WFAN and got an earful from the noted New York radio host about Beckham's behavior.

Asked about the headlines McAdoo said he tried "not to read or listen to any of that stuff," and asked if there was any concern about benching Beckham, he said nothing came from his mouth on that (and that's the only place it could come from).

Francesca kept pressing McAdoo on the Beckham stuff and it became apparent he wasn't going to ease up.

McAdoo: Listen, Mike, this thing. We're talking about this thing 'til we're blue in the face.

Francesca: Well it's never getting corrected.

McAdoo: The more we talk about it, the more it comes up. We need to focus on playing team football and going on and winning the game. He's a big part of the thing we do. And he's blessed with a lot talent and passion and a tremendous skill set. And right now we're working on going to Green Bay and get a win.

Francesca: Have you had any discussions about his behavior?

McAdoo: All discussions between Odell and I, they stay private, between ourselves. Listen, I've got this young man's back. He's blessed with a tremendous skill set --

Francesca: No question.

McAdoo: We talked as a team, we're rallying the troops, we're getting everybody pulling in the same direction. We've got a short week and we've got to get ready for game day.

That's when the long-time host called up a memory of another ex-Giants player, Jeremy Shockey, who he said Beckham reminds him of -- McAdoo pointed out that football is a physical game.

And that's when things really picked up a bit. Warning, obnoxiously long blockquote ahead:

McAdoo: Listen, there are a lot of things being written, a lot of things being said.

Francesca: Well there's a lot of things our eyes are seeing too.

McAdoo: Well, yeah, and Odell is very open. We've had discussions and dialogues and I support the young man.

Francesca: You think you have him under control right now?

McAdoo: I think we're focused on going to Green Bay and going to get a win and it's about the team.

Francesca: OK, so ...

McAdoo: The more I talk about things, the more ...

Francesca: Well we're not seeing things get any better. We wouldn't talk about about it coach, if it wasn't happening. It happened last year, it's still happening. When does it stop happening?

McAdoo: We're focused on Green Bay, Mike, and we're moving on.

Francesca: Yeah well I think you guys are doing a lousy job with him. I don't think you're getting him anywhere better. He was out of control again the other night.

McAdoo: When was he out of control?

Francesca: Did you see him pick up that penalty? You think that was a good penalty he picked up there?

McAdoo: No penalty is a good penalty.

Francesca: Well, do you think his reaction was realistic to what went on during the game?

McAdoo: Where'd the flag come from?

Francesca: What do you mean where did the flag come from?

McAdoo: The flag came from 30 yards down the field. There were two officials right there out of bounds and neither of them threw a flag.

Francesca: So you thought it was a bad call.

McAdoo: I'm not saying that. I'm just saying the two officials right there on the boundary didn't throw it. It came from about thirty yards downfield. I support this young man and I have his back. So does the rest of the team and we're moving on to Green Bay.

Francesca: So I'm going to gather that you condone his behavior. That's what I'm going to take from it. That's all I can take from it because that's all we see. I don't see --

McAdoo: You're wiling to put words into my mouth, you can put words into my mouth.

Francesca: It's not words, I'm watching his actions. I'm not seeing anything improve from the young man. Listen, great player, we all admit that. None of us have a problem -- we love watching the guy play. We just want to see him play under control. We think he's hurting the team. You obviously don't, right?

McAdoo: We need to eliminate the penalties and turnovers from our game. That's a huge part of the problem we're having right now as a team.

Well that was awkward! You can listen to/watch the entire exchange below:
