Dak Prescott is one of the most improbable storylines of the five-week-old NFL season. The rookie fourth-round pick had little in the way of expectations when he was drafted because this was Tony Romo's team. But Romo suffered an injury in the preseason, and Prescott found himself atop the depth chart. And all he's done is help the Cowboys to a 4-1 record while playing otherworldly football.

Specifically, Prescott is completing 69 percent of his passes and has four touchdowns without an interception. In fact, Prescott had his first turnover -- a lost fumble -- in last Sunday's convincing win over the Bengals. There's more: The rookie ranks No. 2 among all quarterbacks in Football Outsiders' passing metrics, behind only Matt Ryan.

So, yeah, there's a lot to like, and for good reason: Prescott might be 23 years old but he takes his job very seriously. So seriously that instead of watching Kanye West perform in Dallas on a recent Thursday night, the rookie stayed home to watch the Patriots dismantle the Texans, 27-0, before heading off to bed.

"I wanted to go a little bit," Prescott told SI.com's Pete Thamel. "But I just think about the perception of it all. And I love my sleep."

This isn't an act, either.

More from Thamel:

Start with those Kanye tickets-they lie unused on the table. Now head out on the roof deck, from which you can see the Cowboys' practice facility a couple of miles to the south. Some teammates roll their eyes at the idea of living in Frisco, a strip-malled McSuburb; trendy Uptown is only 30 miles away. But Prescott loves waking up at 6 a.m. and being at work, in the hot tub, by 6:15. "If I don't hit the traffic light," he says, "I can be there in two minutes."

Your move, Carson Wentz, the Eagles rookie quarterback who has been known to watch game film during date night.
