It's been just over 10 months since Tom Brady and Peyton Manning had their final showdown. Back in January, Manning's Broncos earned a trip to Super Bowl 50 by topping Brady's Patriots in the AFC title game in Denver.

Although it's difficult to imagine any quarterback rivalry topping the one that Brady and Manning had, Jordan Matthews thinks it's possible.

During an interview this week, the Eagles receiver said that he could see Carson Wentz vs. Dak Prescott turning into this generation's Manning vs. Brady.

The subject came up on Wednesday when a reporter asked a question about Manning and Brady.

"I have spoken highly of Carson and know that he could be named with those guys just with more years of playing, and I have a high respect for Dak, too, " Matthews said, via ESPN.com. "You're talking about a guy who is a poised quarterback, he knows what it means to be a leader, he knows what it means to be game-planned for. And I feel like Carson is the same way. The thing I love about Carson is he has that same ability but he also has a chip on his shoulder."

At that point Matthews seemed to get excited about the thought of Wentz and Prescott duking it out on the field for years to come.

"So you're talking about two guys that could potentially be like a Brady and Peyton rivalry," Matthew said. "The only difference is, you're going to get this two times a year, and possibly playoffs."

If the rivalry between Wentz and Prescott turns out to resemble anything close to what Brady and Manning had, that would be huge for the NFL. As Matthews mentioned, the Cowboys and Eagles play each other twice a year, which means they could meet for the 18th time as soon as 2024. Brady and Manning only played each other 17 times -- including the playoffs -- during their 16-year rivalry.

If Wentz and Prescott both last that long and meet a few times in the postseason, these two quarterbacks could end up playing each other almost 40 times during their career.

Of course, we don't yet know who will be Brady and who will be Manning. Although Brady led the all-time regular season series against Manning (9-3), the former Colts and Broncos quarterback led the all-time postseason series between the two. (3-2)
